meet and greet with painting and silkscreen
Puke and Rally
When living in Portland, I was consistently making fun of my collaborative works partner for a) going to art school b) not being old enough to purchase beer c) being still in school. Unfortunately while we were creating the prints for this show- he got sick. Hence the name of the series “Puke and Rally”… it was his frat-boy initiation to the art world. Still makes me laugh.
With these works we further explored a collaborative effort in which I would lay down paintings and Justin would silkscreen the next layer. Often I’d paint a final layer with collage to merge everything together. These super energetic and direct pieces were a breath of fresh air from the previous highly designed or photo based works we’d previously done. But the photos are still present, as the silkscreen shapes are all based off photo’s we’d taken around Portland, OR.
