40ft spray painted

Arc’Teryx SOHO Mural

Artist Caleb Freese paints a mural in SOHO, Manhattan for Arc’teryx, an outdoor gear and clothing brand. The 36ft mural was done in a quick two days so a laser cut stencil was used to lay down the base layer. The art represents the tradition of mountaineering and adventure in NY state with drawings all from the Adirondack mountains. All the buildings are from lower manhattan, where the SOHO store is located putting it in a fantastical juxtaposition of at the base of the mountain range. This represents the artists connection with climbing, mountaineering and backpacking along with his pacific northwest coast roots as well as his love for the Adirondacks, upstate.

The stencil is reverse, adding the background (white) instead of positive lines, which remained the original wall color. Details are added with paint marker as the mural is on a very uneven brick wall, so getting the level of detail desired was hard. We kept all black/white to give a foundation for all of the product which are all bright colors.
