A 15 foot long piece commission a high rise condo in the Pearl District of Portland, OR and featured in LUXE magazine. The clients wanted an unframed piece and for it to correspond to the interior design. The piece consists of urban schematic drawings as silkscreens and layered over colorful abstract paintings. The painting took three weeks to complete with very long dry times and resulting super rich dye-based colors.
The paper is mounted over a frame, giving it a depth and presence of a canvas painting. But on double take, the crisp detail has a clarity only possible with paper.
This was one of the first times I exhibited these topographic style drawings and it worked quite well! The success of this presentation and piece would inspire a body of work all drawing based and unframed.
